[Ultraviolet rays and their dermatologic application].
After describing the landmark results achieved so far in studying the effects of ultraviolet radiation (UVR), the authors go on to present their achievements and they point out those areas of dermatology where UVR can be applied. In connection with the letter, the authors show the latest treatment theories; indications, contraindications, treatment pattern, acute and chronic side effects. Finally, the authors give a brief summary on the interdisciplinary application of UVR.

[Successful treatment of eruptive xanthomatosis with the antilipemic agents acipimox].
A 51-year-old male patient with histologically confirmed eruptive xanthomatosis is presented. Routine and special laboratory examinations showed complex disturbances of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, the latter taking the form of classic hyperlipoproteinaemia type IV. Combined oral antilipaemic drugs including acipimox (methylpyrazine carboxylic acid analogue of nicotinic acid) and a low-fat diet resulted in regression of the skin symptoms and normalization of the serum lipid levels.

Hereditary benign telangiectasia.
Multiple familial cutaneous telangiectases occurring over 3 generations are reported. The morphology of the lesions, the absence of haemorrhagic episodes and the pattern of inheritance are consistent with the diagnosis of hereditary benign telangiectasia described by Ryan and Wells. The differential diagnosis and a possible association with other mesodermal anomalies are discussed.

[Cutaneous manifestation of Hodgkin's disease associated with verrucosis plantaris of unusual appearance].
The association of malignant lymphoma (M. Hodgkin) and verrucosis plantaris of abnormal extent was found in a young woman patient whose death was due to an underlying disease. In connection with this case the authors discuss the immunopathogenesis of malignant lymphomas (among them that of M. Hodgkin), the biology of human papilloma viruses as well as the common etiological aspects of the above immune deficient condition and the associated virus infection.

[Progressive circumscript lentiginosis--phakomatosis pigmentovascularis III/A].
The case of a young woman with circumscribed lentiginosis on certain parts of her body with nevi flammei on face, neck and trunk is reported. This patient's condition was significant in two ways: she had a progressive circumscribed lentiginosis or lentiginosis syndrome, and it was associated with lentigo, nevus spilus and nevus flammeus, so that it was suggestive of phakomatosis.
