Eliminating, consolidating forms save $750,000.
Abstract
Sometimes a baseline can be hard to find. When the BJC Health System in St. Louis wanted to establish a benchmark for the number of forms the newly merged system should have, the improvement team embarked on a two-year journey. Along the way, the team learned a lot about best practices in standardizing forms, coordinating automation, and the tremendous waste companies indulge in when it comes to buying forms. The team also saved about $750,000 and negotiated a contract with a forms supplier that will save them even more.
