Financial modelling on microcomputers.

Abstract

The financial modelling packages for microcomputers can be considered as falling into one of three categories:- visual spread sheets, micro base structured models and structured models which are compatible across, and allow communications between, micros and mainframes. This paper describes the three types of package, discusses the pros and cons of each, and offers a guide to system selection.

Computing 2010: from black holes to biology.

By 2010, a click on the PC on your desktop will suffice to call up instantly all the computing power you need from what by then will be the world's largest supercomputer, the Internet itself. Supercomputing for the masses will trigger a revolution in the complexity of problems that are tackled, whole disciplines will go digital and, rather than spending time collecting their own data, scientists will organize themselves around shared data sets.

[Relationship between occupation and elbow pain, epicondylitis].

Twelve controlled epidemiological studies describing the relationship between epicondylitis and work were found. The studies showed evidence for an association between forceful work and a combination of repetition and forceful work and development of elbow pain, epicondylitis. No controlled studies showing an association between work with visual display units or use of computer mouse and epicondylitis were found. No relationship was found between unaccustomed work and development of epicondylitis. Age and time spent in the employment seem to be disposing factors. Generally the studies did not distinguish between medial and lateral epicondylitis. The studies were characterized by small study populations. Further research including quantitative evaluation of exposure factors and patophysiology is needed.
