Abstract

The White Coat Ceremony, which many dental schools use to mark the transition to patient care, is an opportunity to reflect on the values of dental practice. Eight principles are offered for consideration: 1 ) patient care is the point of practice; 2) the doctor-patient relationship is essential; 3) discuss options and possibilities; 4) mistakes will be made; 5) tell the truth; be assertive; 7 ) consult; and 8) manage your stress and your life.
