A computer program for the deconvolution of mass spectral peak abundance data from experiments using stable isotopes.

Abstract

A computer program is described for deconvoluting the overlap which is often found in mass spectral peak abundance data from stable isotope experiments. Peak intensity data from calibration standards are corrected using parameters calculated from the analysis of separate external standard solutions of analytes and internal standard. If the calibration data are satisfactory, the same parameters and the slope and intercept values from the least squares analysis of the calibration data are used to correct and quantitate the mass spectral peak intensity data from the quality assurance and experimental samples. Reports and graphs appropriate to the process are produced. Applications are given for the analysis of plasma samples from stable isotope experiments with carprofen, cifenline, and midazolam.

Theoretical studies of symmetric five-membered heterocycle derivatives of carbazole and fluorene: precursors of conducting polymers.

Structures, electron ionization and excitation energies, and electron density distribution are studied for carbazole and fluorene derivatives substituted symmetrically by thiophene, ethylenodioxythiophene, furane, or pyrrole. The calculated properties of the molecules directly or indirectly mimic molecular parameters that are important for the design of processes of polymerization or for modeling the final polymer. The studies have been focused on the variation in the properties as a function of the chemical composition of the central fragment and the external rings. The calculated properties of consecutive oligomers indicate their fast convergence to values characterizing polymers.

Novel carboxylated pyrrole- and carbazole-based monomers. Synthesis and electro-oxidation features.

Carboxylated pyrrole (Pyr, a index)- and carbazole (Cbz, b index)-containing monomers 6-7a/b and 9a/b have been readily synthesized from the monobenzyl ester of L-glutamic acid and triamine 2 using Clauson-Kaas and amide coupling reactions. In contrast to Pyr-containing compounds 6-7a, and 9a, the three Cbz-containing monomers 6-7b, and 9b have been found electroactive and were successfully electropolymerized on a Pt electrode resulting in the deposition of corresponding insoluble electroconducting polyCOOH polyCbz-films poly(6-7b) and poly(9b).

Nonaqueous capillary electrophoretic behavior of 2-aryl propionic acids in the presence of an achiral ionic liquid. A chemometric approach.

Ionic liquids (ILs) appear really attractive as electrolyte additives in nonaqueous capillary electrophoresis (NACE). These salts may offer new possibilities of interactions to modulate analyte effective mobilities. The presence of 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (BMIM NTf2) in acetonitrile/alcohol background electrolytes (BGEs) was investigated in this work. The aim of this study was to elucidate the influence of the IL concentration on the electrophoretic behavior of four arylpropionic acids and to identify the interactions between the analytes and the IL cation. The influence on mobility of the IL concentration, the nature and the proportion of the organic solvents, and the concentration of the ionic components of the BGE was first studied by a univariate approach. A four-factor D-optimal experimental design was then applied to provide a deeper insight into analyte interaction with IL cation present both free in BGE and adsorbed onto the capillary wall.
