Rheumatoid hindfoot.
Abstract
Rheumatoid arthritis of the hindfoot is a relatively common problem and should be distinguished from other hindfoot and ankle disorders. Various nonoperative and operative treatments may be used effectively to relieve pain, functional restrictions, and footwear restrictions and, in some instances, to correct deformity. Management demands a multidisciplinary approach coordinated with a rheumatologist or other internist, a pedorthist, and a physiatrist or physical therapist.
