Interfering basic materials in urine from racing greyhounds.

Abstract

Three quinoline amines, 2-aminomethylquinoline, 2-hydroxymethylquinoline and quinaldine (2-methylquinoline), are identified in greyhound urine. These amines can interfere in the analysis of greyhound material for basic drugs. This is a special problem in ultraviolet spectrometry since their extinction coefficients are high. Reference analytical data for these quinoline amines and for six related compounds are given. The techniques used are infrared spectrometry, ultraviolet spectrometry, fluorometry, thin-layer chromatography, gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.

Optimization of the methods for introduction of amine groups onto the silica nanoparticle surface.

The luminescent silica nanoparticle has attracted the researchers' concentration in bioanalysis recently. Its extensive application is based on the immobilization of various biomolecules such as deoxyribonucleic acid, antibody, and so forth onto the surface. By comparing different introduction methods of amine groups, it was confirmed that the "two-step" route is more preferable by adding tetraethyl orthosilicate and 3-aminopropyl-(triethoxyl)silane in sequence, to attain ideal amine-modified silica nanoparticles. On this basis, carboxyl groups were derived from amine groups on the nanoparticle surface and then were activated by 1-ethyl-3-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide hydrochloride and N-hydroxy-succinimide. Finally, mouse monoclonal antihuman CD71 antibody (McAb CD71) and transferrin were effectively linked with the carboxyl groups and successfully labeled the receptors in the membrane of fibroblast cells, respectively.

Reactivity of indanedioneketene dimer with amines.

The highly reactive indanedioneketene 5, resulting from the thermal decomposition of phenyliodonium ylide of 2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone (lawsone, 4), in the absence of nucleophiles dimerizes to the corresponding tetraoxo spiro oxetanone 6 in quantitative yield. This oxetanone exhibits an interesting reactivity toward amines.

Amine-promoted, organocatalytic aziridination of enones.

A novel method is presented using N-N ylides (prepared by in situ amination of a tertiary amine) for the aziridination of a range of enone systems. The amine may be used sub-stoichiometrically, and promising levels of enantioselectivity are observed with quinine as promoter. [reaction: see text].
