Abstract

In a world of expensive treatments and high technology, human touch is a valuable therapeutic intervention with dramatic implications. In 1972, Dr. Dolores Krieger and Dora Kunz, both RNs, began developing therapeutic touch as a healing modality specifically designed for health professionals. Since that time, interest has grown so much that therapeutic touch is now taught in more than 80 colleges and universities in the United States and in more than 70 foreign countries, especially in schools of nursing.
