Draft genome sequence of Archaeoglobaceae strain SR50 isolated from a shallow hydrothermal vent in the caldera of Saint-Paul Island, French Southern and Antarctic Lands.

We report the draft genome sequence of SR50, the first cultivated member of the genus JdFR-22 within the Archaeoglobaceae family, which currently includes three genera with cultivated representatives. Isolated from a shallow hydrothermal vent off Saint-Paul Island, a strictly protected area, SR50 is able to grow lithoautotrophically by sulfate reduction.

Draft genome sequence of the agarolytic bacterium Cellvibrio sp. 25HG11W-0.

Cellvibrio sp. strain 25HG11W-0 is a freshwater agarolytic bacterium isolated from the Namyangcheon stream in the Republic of Korea. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of this bacterium, which harbors multiple putative agarase genes belonging to glycoside hydrolase (GH) families GH16, GH50, GH86, and GH117.

Draft genome sequence of a novel hydrogenogenic CO-oxidizing bacterium that is phylogenetically closely related to the family Thermicanaceae.

An anaerobic, thermophilic hydrogenogenic carbon monoxide (CO)-oxidizing Bacillota bacterium, 3446A, was isolated from freshwater pond sediments in Kyoto, Japan. The 3.11-Mbp draft genome sequence (guanine-cytosine content, 50.4%) encodes CODH-ECH genes, consistent with hydrogenogenic CO oxidation. Phylogenomic analysis suggests that Bacillota bacterium 3446A represents a novel genus-level lineage within the family Thermicanaceae.

Origins of primate chromosomes - as delineated by Zoo-FISH and alignments of human and mouse draft genome sequences.

This review examines recent advances in comparative eutherian cytogenetics, including Zoo-FISH data from 30 non-primate species. These data provide insights into the nature of karyotype evolution and enable the confident reconstruction of ancestral primate and boreo-eutherian karyotypes with diploid chromosome numbers of 48 and 46 chromosomes, respectively. Nine human autosomes (1, 5, 6, 9, 11, 13, 17, 18, and 20) represent the syntenies of ancestral boreo-eutherian chromosomes and have been conserved for about 95 million years. The average rate of chromosomal exchanges in eutherian evolution is estimated to about 1.9 rearrangements per 10 million years (involving 3.4 chromosome breaks). The integrated analysis of Zoo-FISH data and alignments of human and mouse draft genome sequences allow the identification of breakpoints involved in primate evolution. Thus, the boundaries of ancestral eutherian conserved segments can be delineated precisely. The mapping of rearrangements onto the phylogenetic tree visualizes landmark chromosome rearrangements, which might have been involved in cladogenesis in eutherian evolution.

Draft genome sequence of a methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus haemolyticus isolated from a circulating banknote in Bangladesh.

We report the draft genome of Staphylococcus haemolyticus AIL_BAU_sh26 from a circulating banknote in Bangladesh. The 2.48 Mb genome (32.6% GC; 79 contigs; N50 89,821 bp) encodes 2,487 coding sequences, 34 tRNAs, and 3 rRNAs. Multiple antimicrobial resistance determinants, including mecA, and a plasmid replicon were identified, underscoring the public health relevance of environmental staphylococcal genomic surveillance.

Draft genome sequence data of Streptomyces antibioticus SCBA4 isolated from the Soils of Surigao del Sur, Philippines.

The draft genome of Streptomyces antibioticus SCBA4 isolated from the soils of Surigao del Sur, Philippines is reported here. S. antibioticus is a member of the phylum Actinomycetota, a diverse group of Gram positive, high G+C content bacteria well known for their production of a variety of bioactive compounds. Sequencing using the Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform yielded a 8,616,999 bp genome across 36 contigs with 7621 coding sequences, 87 tRNA, and 1 tmRNA. Consistent with the members of the same phylum, the GC content was 71.83% and was found to contain putative gene clusters of secondary metabolites such as NRPs, terpenes and polyketides. The genome sequence has been deposited at NCBI under the accession number JBSWZT020000000.

Draft genome sequence of the almond red leaf blotch pathogen Polystigma amygdalinum assembled from infected almond leaves collected in California, USA.

We report a draft genome assembly of Polystigma amygdalinum, the causal agent of almond red leaf blotch. DNA extracted from infected leaves was sequenced using PacBio HiFi, and host-derived reads were removed bioinformatically. The 238.7-Mb assembly (90.8% BUSCO completeness) is highly repetitive (82.3%) and unusually large for an ascomycete.

Draft genome sequences of 188 Salmonella isolates from no-antibiotics-ever and conventionally raised poultry samples from retail stores.

We describe the draft genomes of 188 Salmonella isolates from no-antibiotics-ever and conventionally raised chicken and turkey products. Top three isolated serotypes were S. Infantis, S. Kentucky, and S. Typhimurium. The genome sizes, contig numbers, and GC contents of 188 isolates range from 4.68 to 5.15 Mb, 31 to 168, and 51.6% to 52.2%, respectively.

First draft genome sequence of the emerging sexually transmitted dermatophyte Trichophyton mentagrophytes genotype VII.

Trichophyton mentagrophytes ITS-genotype VII (TMVII) is a globally emerging sexually transmitted dermatophyte causing severe skin infections characterised by painful, pustular lesions on the face, public area, genitalia, and trunk. To inform the prevention efforts, we present the first draft genomes of four TMVII isolates obtained from patients in the United Kingdom diagnosed between 2021 and 2025. We performed whole-genome sequencing and phylogenetic analysis based on single-nucleotide polymorphisms. We analysed the genetic relatedness of four TMVII isolates collected from UK patients, two had travel links to Spain and the Middle East. Two further isolates, including T. mentagrophytes ITS-genotype I/II obtained from a canine infection in the United Kingdom in 2025 and Trichophyton indotineae were sequenced for contextual analysis. We confirm that the TMVII strains studied here represent a highly clonal population, distinct from both zoophilic T. mentagrophytes genotype I/II and anthropophilic T. indotineae.
