Sound financial planning that provides for family and retirement are promoted by law. As long as the techniques discussed above are not motivated by a desire to hinder or defraud creditors, a spouse, or others, they may be a valuable part of an overall estate plan. If used during a time of pending claims or insolvency, they will be suspect (at best). Even the act of dropping malpractice insurance coverage might be viewed as an act of pre-planning to hinder creditors and arguably a fraudulent transfer. The development of a plan will depend on the individual's needs, goals, and circumstances, and require careful thought and the advice of professionals.
The herpesviruses cytomegalovirus and herpes simplex are common human infections. They are usually subclinical, but can cause significant or even fatal disease. The foetus, the newborn and the immunocompromised are particularly vulnerable to the serious consequences of these opportunistic infections.

Developmental changes in the frequency of occurrence of some 23 action patterns were studied in pairs of coyotes, wolves, dogs and their hybrids. Over 4,300 entries were recorded from days 24--42 (85.5 h observations in toto). All subjects showed a decrease in contactual behaviors from 24--30 days, and a subsequent increase in play fighting and chasing. In all species, with the exception of the coyotes, the bite was inhibited and play behavior was recorded from 24 days onwards, but only after the 30th day in the coyotes. Species differences in occurrence and frequency of certain action patterns were evident in the wolves, coyotes and dogs, and these differences were also reflected in their hybrids.
In a pack of ten wolves, one wolf behaved atypically and fought with several packmates. This wolf was shot when it approached the author. Within 4 weeks at least six other members of the pack were dead. Rabies was confirmed in the wolf that was shot and in two others that had not decomposed. Most of the wolves infected with rabies had sought or remained at familiar areas in the core area of their territory, which implies that they were not contacting neighboring packs. This was confirmed with an aerial survey. Arctic foxes, experiencing a regionwide rabies epizootic, were suspected vectors.
We have collected all the reported cases of Echinococcus cysts recovered in every surgical ward in Mashhad since their establishment. At the same time we searched corpses of livestock which had been slaughtered in Khorassan's slaughter houses in different days since 1969 for evidence of cysts, and also dogs, 2 wolves, 4 jackals and 11 foxes which had been killed with strychnine, for adult worms. Occurrence of hydatid cyst infestation was found in 478 reports of surgical operations amongst 43,196 cases operated for various diagnosis including hydatidosis. The number of hydatid cyst infestation amongst 15,691 corpses is as follows: 881 out of 12,311 sheep and goats, 378 out of 3380 cattle and camels. The dogs' infestation was rather high as we found adult Echinococcus worms in 50 out of the examined 266, which gives a percentage of 18.79. But no worms could be found in the 2 wolves, 4 jackals and 11 foxes which were examined. All the adult worms examined were Echinococcus granulosus.
To establish the circulation of bovine sarcosporidia among wild animals of Uzbekistan foxes and young wolves were fed with bovine hearts and oesophaguses containing cysts of Sarkocystis bovicanis (= S. fusiformis). These animals were proved to be the final hosts of this species in nature. The prepatent period of S. bovicanis was found to be 7-8 and 7-9 days in foxes and young wolves, respectively and the patent one 33 and 28-34 days, respectively.
The Arctic Circle is one of Earth's most extreme environments. It features cold temperatures, resource shortages, and near-complete winter darkness. Here, we generated a chromosome-level genome assembly of a male wolf from the Arctic Archipelago (Canis lupus arctos). Our assembly and that of the related C. l. orion from Greenland was used to identify candidate genic and regulatory features of Arctic-adapted polar wolves, ranging from selection acting on standing variation and amino acid changes in genes to conserved non-exonic elements (CNEEs) that may regulate gene expression. We identified genes and nearby CNEEs associated with thermoregulation (e.g., APOB), coat color and patterning (e.g., GOLGB1), and DNA damage response (e.g., POLQ). In vitro assays supported changes in polar wolf gene (POLQ and TRPV2 amino acid substitutions) and CNEE function. Our report offers insights into the genetic mechanisms underlying polar wolf adaptations, laying a foundation for future studies on Arctic canines.
Structural variation makes an important contribution to canine evolution and phenotypic differences. Although recent advances in long-read sequencing have enabled the generation of multiple canine genome assemblies, most prior analyses of structural variation have relied on short-read sequencing. To offer a more complete assessment of structural variation in canines, we performed an integrative analysis of structural variants present in 12 canine samples with available long-read and short-read sequencing data along with genome assemblies. Use of long-reads permits the discovery of heterozygous variation that is absent in existing haploid assembly representations while offering a marked increase in the ability to identify insertion variants relative to short-read approaches. Examination of the size spectrum of structural variants shows that dimorphic LINE-1 and SINE variants account for over 45% of all deletions and identified 1,410 LINE-1s with intact open reading frames that show presence-absence dimorphism. Using a graph-based approach, we genotype newly discovered structural variants in an existing collection of 1,879 resequenced dogs and wolves, generating a variant catalog containing a 56.5% increase in the number of deletions and 705% increase in the number of insertions previously found in the analyzed samples. Examination of allele frequencies across admixture components present across breed clades identified 283 structural variants evolving with a signature of selection.
