[Importance of determining the beta2-microglobulin level in biological fluids in patients with rheumatoid arthritis].

The level of beta 2-microglobulin (beta 2-MG) in blood and urine was measured in 97 patients with rheumatoid arthritis. In 42 of them, the measurements were made in the synovial fluid. The level of beta 2-MG was found to depend on the process activity, the magnitude of the articular count, and on the disease duration. It was shown that the drug treatment pattern influenced the content of beta 2-MG in blood, urine and synovial fluid. In 12 out of the 97 patients with rheumatoid arthritis, the measurement of beta 2-MG in blood and urine made it possible to determine the involvement of the kidneys into the pathological process.

[The role of membrane digestion and absorption of the small intestine in the pathogenesis of eczema].

Examinations of the parietal digestion and absorption, carried out in 346 patients with eczema, have revealed disordered resorption in the small intestine (of D-xylose in 74%, of galactose and glucose in 78%, of lactose in 96%, of lipids in 76%, of salts in 71%, and of ethanol in 91% of the examinees). Membranous hydrolysis has been decreased in all the subjects. Correction of the detected dysfunction of the small intestine had a favourable effect on both the skin process and the digestive and absorptive functions of the small intestine.

[Hemosorption in the combined treatment of patients with ischemic heart disease and diabetes mellitus].

Extracorporal hemosorption was carried out in 42 patients with diabetes mellitus and ischemic heart disease and a positive effort was observed. This was manifested in a reduction of the clinical manifestations of ischemic heart disease: decrease of the frequency, duration and intensity of stenocardia attacks, 2.5 times reduction on necessity in coronarolytic agents. Hemosorption was effective in the control of arrhythmia and disorders of cardiac conduction. The postsorption period was characterized by stabilization of diabetes mellitus reduction of diurnal fluctuations of glycemia and glucosuria, decrease of peroral sugar-reducing agents.

[Clinical importance of the radioimmunologic determination of beta 2-microglobulin in patients with kidney pathology].

High diagnostic significance of beta 2-microglobulin determination by radioimmunoassay in the blood and urine of patients with the main types of renal pathology (chronic glomerulonephritis, chronic pyelonephritis, hemorrhagic fever with the renal syndrome, and diabetic nephropathy) was shown. A study of beta 2-microglobulin level permitted accurate determination of the localization of pathology in the nephron and assessment of a degree of its expression as well as the detection of initial renal functional disorders, assessment of therapeutic efficacy and dynamic observation of renal function in patients with renal pathology.

[Trial of the combined use of trental and solcoseryl in treating patients with chronic pancreatitis].

The effect of combined use of pentoxifylline and solcoseryl was studied in 35 patients with chronic pancreatitis. General clinical findings were studied in parallel with the time course of pancreatic exocrine (trypsin) and endocrine (insulin, C-peptide) function. The blood level of gastrin and changes in intestinal function using 131I-lipids were also studied. The incorporation of both drugs in multimodality therapy made a positive therapeutic effect, resulting in a decrease in the pain syndrome and dyspeptic symptoms. At the same time some favorable shifts in pancreatic and GI tract function were noted. Possible mechanisms of a positive therapeutic effect were discussed. A conclusion was made that the incorporation of pentoxifylline and solcoseryl in multimodality therapy of chronic pancreatitis was clinically justified and determined pathogenetically.

[Characteristics of carbohydrate metabolic disorders and of the secretion of insulin, glucagon and somatotropin in patients with chronic glomerulonephritis and chronic kidney failure].

A course of chronic glomerulonephritis is accompanied by carbohydrate metabolic derangement (a decrease in glucose tolerance), change in insulin secretion and the development of relative insulin insufficiency. The revealed changes develop up to the appearance of the clinical signs of chronic renal failure and progress with its development. A decrease in renal function and the development of chronic renal failure is accompanied by the accumulation of insulin hormonal antagonists: somatotropin, glucagon and prolactin. Treatment with chronic hemodialysis does not completely eliminate carbohydrate metabolic derangements, nor does it correct growth hormone, glucagon and prolactin secretion.
